OK! So I know I've been like 2 months behind and I have many new entries I need to write, but I've been so busy with the last teaching cycle (intenvise, 5 weeks) and trying to prepare for my upcoming 3 to 4 month travels around South America that I just haven't had any time to catch up on e-mail or update my online journal! I will try to post a few entries before I hit the road (like, tomorrow), but in the meantime, I have a few other things I'd like to share that I have aquired during my 10 months of living in what I call the "Luis Cordero House".
Just so you know...I will have brief updates during my travels that I will later expand on, since I will have limited time online at internet cafes. I am traveling with a friend a fellow English teacher, Tom from California, who will join me for my first month to be spent in Peru. My rough itinerary is to go to Trujillo (sp), Huayaca (sp?), Lima, Cuzco, hike the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu, Arequipa and then on to Lake Titicaca, and La Paz, Bolivia. From there I am thinking of touring Bolivia, possibly Ausuncion, Paraguay, Argentina, the Lake District, Tierra del Fuego (waaaay down south) and then up Chile to Santiago where I'll fly back to Ecuador. (All previous travel will be by bus-yay). I expect to be back in Cuenca sometime in November, I'll spend a few weeks here and then fly back to the states in December. I plan to have a brief stopover in New York City to visit my Ecuadorian intercambio friends, Jackie and Maria, who are working near there at this time. Then I plan to reunite with the family in time for Christmas!
I am glad that so many of you have enjoyed reading my journal...have no fear, I am still alive and will continue to update my journal...hopefully a little more frequently than I have recently. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten I still need to write about the Galapagos Islands as well!
