Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003 - 7:59 p.m. Walking around Lima for the last few days has made me start to wonder about other city populations...So, I've done a little bit of research online and (mostly focusing on cities that I've been to), here's what I found out... Lima, Peru--------------8 million Quito, Ecuador--------1.5 million Guayaquil, Ecuador-------3 million Cuenca, Ecuador---------0.3 million Buenos Aires, Argentina--16 million Santiago, Chile---------5 million Rio de Janeiro, Brazil---7 million Sao Paulo, Brazil-------17 million Mexico City, Mexico-----22 million London, England-------12 million Paris, France------almost 11 million Rome, Italy----------3.6 million Athens, Greece-------3.7 million Sydney, Australia-----4 million NYC, NY, USA---------18 million LA area, CA, USA------9.9 million Tokyo, Japan----------12 million Osaka, Japan-----------8.8 million Seattle, WA, USA------0.5 million King County, WA, USA-----1.7 million
I'm sure there's some margin of error, but it was interesting to do this comparison...Also, I realize that some cities are more spread out than others. I'm sure Tokyo is a lot more condensed than other cities and Athens felt a whole lot more crowded than Paris did...
