Associated Press announced early this morning that yesterday at 1:47pm on a quiet side street in the classy district of Providencia in the city of Santiago, Chile the Death of an ATM card was due to a mistaken error code that caused the machine to essentially "eat" the card. It's owner, world-traveler extraordinaire, was unaware of the fate of her card when she entered the adjacent bank to attempt it's retrieval. However, due to the native Chilean's habit of rapid speech and colloquialism, she was unsuccessful in its retrieval or comprehending what the bank employees were saying. Due to the fact that all banks in Santiago close at 2pm in the afternoon, it wasn't until Thursday morning that she learned the gruesome truth of the Death of her ATM card.
The resigned owner proceeded to e-mail a request to her bank in the US that a replacement card be sent to her permanent residence in Seattle, WA.
