Jobless in Seattle

Well, here I am back in Seattle for the time being, unemployed and job hunting...it's very frustrating and I have to admit I've been getting discouraged. And to add to that, I discovered that I can't get unemployment benefits because I was out of the country for so long. Talk about depressing! So, thank God the folks are letting me stay with them rent-free until I can find something. Washington state currently has a tie for the second highest level of unemployment in the nation. I've been on the hunt for 2 months with just 2 measly days working for a temp agency. *Sigh*. I was hoping to return to South America for a short bit but now I know I'm not going anywhere until I can find a job.

Well I've been seriously considering the Peace Corps and also grad school. Within the last 2 weeks I began thinking about starting on my Masters in Teaching at the U of Washington, but I just missed the deadline to start this fall. So, I think I will apply to the U-dub and to the Peace Corps, probably do the Peace Corps first and defer grad school until I get back.

What this means is that I most likely am going to be here in Seattle until I leave for the Peace Corps early next year (although I would love to go down to Ecuador for a little visit between now and then, maybe for a couple weeks, but again, that all depends on when I can find a job).

Well, that's the latest plan anyways...always subject to change!

Interesting Photo

Also, I still have to update my journal about the rest of my trip, but I have my photos back now (all 68 rolls), and I have a cool one I took in Antarctica. It's a pic taken at midnight on Thanksgiving eve of the sunset and sunrise--*At the Same Time*! It is really strange and kind of mindboggling when you think about it. I plan to get it scanned soon. Let me know if you would like for me to e-mail it to you! (Or if you would like an explanation of how it is physically possible to view the sunset and sunrise simulataneously).
